If you’re all about presentation, then part of the fun of holiday gift shopping is gift wrap that's just as cool as what's inside. But if you’re thinking of heading to the nearest mall to get everything gift wrapped for you, think again! Here’s some unique gift wrapping ideas that can make your prezzies look extra special this Christmas.
Peppermint Prezzies
Great for the whole family, and an option that won’t break the bank - why not seal your gifts with a candy cane treat this year? This looks great with just plain white gift wrap or paper, but you could even go with festive metallics or brighter colours if you’re wanting to go all out. All you need is some thick ribbon and a pack of candy canes (you can buy these in bulk for under $5 from your local supermarket or warehouse to knock out gifts for the whole family). Tie your ribbons in a bow and tuck the candy cane into the centre. Top it off with a gift tag or card and you’ve got a deliciously wrapped gift. They’ll never guess you did it yourself!
Hand-painted Wrap
Want to get a little crafty? Hand-painted gift wrap is simple and adds a little personalised touch to your gifts. All you need is some white paper (you can buy a3 sketchpads of plain paper, or buy individual sheets if your gifts are bigger), any paint of your choosing (we recommend choosing 3 complimenting colours if you want your gifts to look cohesive), a paintbrush and some ribbon of your choice. The artwork itself is up to you. Plain brush strokes in alternating colours, dots, stripes, splatters with a toothbrush - the possibilities are endless. Once your paint has dried, wrap your gifts and top off with a ribbon for a unique gift with a handmade touch. This option is also great if you’ve got kids to allow them to personalise family gifts.
Snowflake Crafts
Remember making cut-out paper snowflakes when you were a kid? They’re super easy to make and they can upgrade your plain gift to something 3D that your friends and family are sure to love. You can put these on any kind of gift wrap or even just plain paper as a minimalistic touch. They’re as simple as making a paper fan and cutting pieces out of it to create your snowflake! Newsprint
Simple, cheap, effective - and a great way to reuse the daily newspaper. Just use a couple of pages from the daily news and tie it together with a plain ribbon and gift tag of your choice. This is great if you’ve left your gift wrapping to the last minute. Want to dress it up? Try threading a Christmas tree decoration or charm through your ribbon to make your newsprint gifts pop.
Make your gifts the Star of the show
If you want to get extra crafty and you’ve got some time on your hands, why not pack your gifts in these gorgeous 3D stars instead of traditional gift wrap. Although these can be a little trickier to put together, once done, they look amazing! For smaller gifts, you can even punch a hole in the top and hang them from your Christmas tree.
